When you're taking college courses online or at a campus close to your home, it's important to stay as organized as possible. Otherwise, you could lose some of the work you need to turn in or lose track of the study material you need for a test. So when you're creating a study station in your home for college courses, make sure to avoid these four pitfalls.
Not Dusting Off The Desk Thoroughly Before You Begin Studying
A really dusty desk will have a tendency to damage the papers that are placed on it. Specifically, the papers could stick to the dirty desk and start crumpling more easily.
So before you use a desk as a study station, wash it off with a quality dust cleaner. Have a window open while you're dusting to ensure that as few dust particles as possible settle back onto the desk.
Setting A Charging Station For Your Phone Too Close By
If you're someone who's easily distracted, you want to keep your phone as far away from your study station as possible. If you can easily see the phone at its charging station while you're sitting on the desk, you may be tempted to grab it in order to check out a social media site. Before you know it, you'll have used the phone for your entire pre-planned study session instead of doing any work.
If it's possible, then, set the phone down in another room and turn off its ringtone to minimize the chance of you getting distracted. Keep the phone close to a power outlet so that it can get charged up while you study, reducing the chance of it shutting off when you need it later for something important.
Forgetting To Put A Pencil Sharpener In Your Main Pencil Case
There are few things more frustrating than having to use a very dull pencil to fill out a worksheet you need to complete for class. Therefore, when you're stocking your study session, don't forget to put a small portable pencil sharpener in the drawer or compartment you're using as a pencil case.
Setting Your Pile Of Books Too Close To One Of Your Elbows
You're going to need a lot of space on your study station's desk to move your arms and elbows around. The more you have to focus on not hitting anything on your desk with your arms, the less free brain power you'll have to focus on your studies.
So if there's space in the room, put your college textbooks on the floor section immediately beside your study station's desk.
