A career in medical imaging can include many different aspects of capturing images of the human body. If you are interested in this field, then there are several courses that you can take. All of these courses fall under the umbrella of an online biomedical tech class. By understanding the different options, you choose a specific focus and have classes that will focus on your specific needs in the medical field. Once you get past the general courses, you can enroll in specific courses that will teach you advanced techniques and methods to get you through your proper training.
X-Ray Technicians
One of the medical imaging careers that you can train for is that of an x-ray technician. These technicians take images of broken bones and organs inside bodies. Biomedical tech classes will teach you how to set up patients for x-rays, how to operate various pieces of equipment, and how to process the x-rays for medical coding and filing. Through the tech classes, you will learn about both digital x-rays and traditional film ones. This will prepare you for multiple types of hospital environments that you may find yourself working in.
Ultrasound Techs
Ultrasound techs can work in many different fields of the medical industry. A number of ultrasound careers will focus on pregnancies and stomach scans, but the technology is used for many other medical conditions and scans. Through the training, you will learn how to operate different ultrasound scanning tools. The anatomy of the body will be studied in intense detail so that you can easily locate body parts and specific areas needed for the scan.
CT-Scan Techs
A CT scan is a more involved type of x-ray. These scans are often used on the head or deeper areas of the body. These scans are often very sensitive and require a lot of attention to detail. Online tech classes will focus on the scans, including important protocols for brain scans.
MRI Techs
A CT scan tech is a similar position to an MRI tech. While CT-scan technologies use x-rays to create scans, MRIs use large magnets and can typically take more detailed scans of the body. Through your training, you will learn how to operate the machinery and what protocols to follow when handling the controls. MRI scans are very detailed, so it's important to learn about anatomy and every organ that is present in the human body.
